We recently install new windows on the front of our home. This included all new trim around the windows both inside and out! After this project was completed the size of our windows changed slightly and our old window treatments no longer fit. I absolutely love the selection at Select Blinds and was thrilled to work with them in getting new wood woven shades.

I ordered a ton of samples and fell in love with the Veronica Valencia Island Wood Woven Shade in Lomaloma. Lomaloma has stitching down the front to give it texture – It is also a lighter color, without orange hues. Unfortunately, Select Blinds discontinued the Lomaloma shortly after I ordered our shades. However, my first choice and close match to Lomaloma is Antiqua Natural. This color didn’t come in the size I needed so I went with Lomaloma – If you are looking for shades similar to ours, I recommend you order an Antiqua Natural sample! You’ll love it!
In the kitchen and bathroom we added a privacy liner – This allows sunlight to shine through while offering privacy. In the bedrooms we went with a blackout liner. I have loved having blackout shades in the nursery since we installed them. It’s super dark in the nursery while Bennett naps and we got to take down the sheets we had over the windows! *Praise hands*
Installing these shades on nine of our windows took Brett an hour and a half – It was a breeze!
Here’s a look at the finished product in the three main spaces! Such a major improvement! I wish we had ordered these months ago!

Can you post a picture of what the privacy liner looks like from the exterior of your home? I love the kitchen shades. Is this the Loma Loma color?

Hi Gina! I shared views of our shades from the outside on my Instagram (@mindfullygray). Head to my Select Blinds highlight to see lots more info!

Thank you! Do you think edge binding on natural woven shades is necessary? I personally don’t like the look but our design consultant recommended it to prevent the sides from fraying and weighing down over time. Do you have any issues with fraying on the edges or do you wish you added the edge binding?
Jamie says
I used to have shades with edge binding and I did not like the look at all – This time around we went with no edge binding and I haven’t had any issues and I love the look so much better!
Gina says
Do you think edge binding is really necessary for woven shades? I noticed you didn’t get it. We had a design consultant come out and she highly recommended it to protect the sides of the shades from fraying and weighing down over time.

Jamie says

Brooke says
Do you know a color that would be similar then?
