A special thanks to Sleep Number for sponsoring this blog post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have a confession to make – The first couple months of our marriage we did not sleep in the same bed. We couldn’t. Our bed hurt Brett’s back too much. You see, he does physical labor for a living and having back pain day in and day out is not an option. So, he slept on the couch. *Face Palm*
Being newly weds – This was a total bummer (as you can imagine)! A few months after we got married we moved from Oklahoma to Kansas, and at that time our family gifted us an expanded queen Sleep Number bed (cue the angels singing). We set the bed up at our new / first house and it was game changer. 1.) We could sleep in the same bed… FINALLY! 2.) We both were finally getting AMAZING sleep! You see, with Sleep Number beds, each person in the bed can set their sleep number setting (i.e. level of firmness / softness) to whatever suits their needs. Brett prefers his side to be firm (Sleep Number Setting 85) and I like my side less firm (Sleep Number Setting 35). Because the bed has air inside to adjust the level of firmness, the bed lasts for years! It does not sag in the middle over time causing you to have to flip the mattress every so often.
Why we got a new bed when we LOVED our bed
So you’re probably wondering why we got a different bed, right? Like I mentioned, that bed was an expanded queen (i.e. wider than a standard queen but not as wide as a king). It was a size Sleep Number made several years back (and no longer do). Y’all know how I love to change up my decor / furniture often, right?! Well, the headboard we have now (that I love) only came in queen and king. *Sigh* We made the decision to purchase a new bed in a standard size.
The new bed we bought to replace ours
We didn’t even discuss what type of bed we would replace ours with – We both knew we were getting another Sleep Number, no questions asked. We purchased a king size Sleep Number iLE 360 bed. What I love about these beds – You can purchase the base from Sleep Number (like we did and attach a headboard to it), or you can set the Sleep Number bed into an existing base or bed frame. You don’t have to sacrifice style when purchasing a Sleep Number bed. Don’t worry, our old expanded queen went to a good home – Our room / the guest room at my mom’s house in Colorado when we go visit (so we get to sleep on it when we travel)!
All of this to say, sleep is SO important. Brett needs good sleep so his body feels fully rested to go out and perform physical labor everyday and I need good sleep to survive chasing a toddler around every day (can I get an “amen” from all the mommas out there!?)
If you are in the market for a new bed, I cannot say enough great things about Sleep Number. Go into a local Sleep Number store and lay on one yourself.
Let me know what questions y’all have!
Thanks for stopping by, friends!

I want to check them out. We need separate adjustments also.

You should! I love having control of my own side 🙂

We bought a sleep number before we got married. We are probably going on year 16 now! It definitely lasts. I also enjoy a softer bed while
My husband like a former bed. Getting another Sleep Number is a possibility for us. Although I’m in everything being organic now. Not sure if that’s available.

Love your bedroom style and decor! What is your paint color and dimensions of your bedroom? We would LOVE a new bed and would like to upgrade to a king but our room is on the smaller side and I don’t want the bed to look out of place.

Hi there! Our bedroom is Sherwin Williams, Agreeable Gray! I will have to get back with you on the dimensions. In order to make a king bed work, I replaced our nightstands to a smaller option.

Hi there! I really like your style. Just curious if you might share where you found your headboard? Thanks!

I see this is an old post but where is your headboard from?
