On Monday, June 3rd, we moved from our first house in Kansas City. I can’t quite put into words how difficult it was… and still is. Leaving the house we brought our babies home to tugs on my heart in some type of way. We rented a U-Haul and had lots of friends and family help load it up. There was so much hustle and bustle I wasn’t super mindful of the magnitude of the situation. That being said, I am just now unpacking everything that happened and coming to grips with it.
Our kids played outside all morning with our neighbors (their best friends). When it came time to say good-bye we were all in tears. For six years, these kids played together daily and had the sweetest relationship I’ve ever seen. We walked through the empty house and then pulled out of the driveway one final time with lots of tears. The whole drive to Oklahoma I was a mess. I know God has called us to “GO” and move to Oklahoma but that doesn’t make it any easier in this moment. I feel so empty without the comfort and security of our daily routine and environment. One day, I do believe we will feel at home again but right now, in our rental house (while our house is getting built), it feels far from home. And honestly, it’s really hard. I love creating a cozy, homey space and it’s just not possible where we are now.
Good-bye first home 🥺🫶🏼
Earlier today we ventured over to our new build and saw progress for the first time in person!! It had a roof and windows and trees everywhere!! I felt like I could finally see the light! We had an electrical walk through where we talked through the placement of every fixture and every outlet. It definitely helped get my mind off the rental house and heaviness I’ve been feeling.
I loved the open staircase and the arched bookshelf, of course. It ties into the arched entry and door beautifully! I think it definitely helps making trips to the lot to set our sight on what lies ahead. When my creative juices are flowing I’m usually happier all around!

I’m excited to share lots more updates now that we are closer!! Stay tuned, friends!
