In case you missed our news on Instagram – We are moving!! A couple months ago we sold our house sight unseen before it hit the market. It was an emotional, surreal experience that confirmed what we knew all along – God was leading us to move to Oklahoma!
A couple years ago Brett and I both felt a desire in our hearts to move to Oklahoma after we visited some friends for the weekend. You see, we met there! I went to school at OU and Brett was working in OKC when we met (we were volunteer Younglife leaders in the area$. We lost touch but reconnected years later after I graduated and I was working in a small town north of Tulsa (he had moved back to Kansas at that time). After we got married Brett moved to Oklahoma but we both desired to move to Kansas City. He had lived there before and we visited several times and I had fallen in love with the charming houses and MASSIVE trees!
Six months into marriage we made the move to KC! It’s here we bought our first house and started Mindfully Gray! We put our blood, sweat, and tears into making this home everything you see today. Aside from projects, we also brought our babies home to this house. 🥹
Fast forward to earlier this year, we stumbled across a builder and city / neighborhood in Oklahoma we loved! It truly checked all the boxes (wooded lot with some elbow room – yes, please!) We met with the builder and toured the neighborhood and made it official – We were going to build our next home!
We planned on listing our house at the end of April but when it was published on pre-MLS eight weeks prior to being active, we received numerous offers within hours we couldn’t pass on. Sight unseen (PTL for not having to show our house with 3 littles!!), as-is, all over asking price. Truly an answer to prayer! We accepted one of the offers and will be moving the beginning of June.
Our build is well underway, we’ve broken ground and all selections have been made! It will be completed (Lord willing) by the end of the year. 🙏🏼 We found a sweet little rental in Oklahoma to move into until it’s done.
I started this blog to document fixing up our first house. After it felt like we “fixed up” every square inch of this home, I honestly lost steam here. I have engulfed myself in motherhood (which is my most important work) but I do miss creating and sharing. I’m hoping with this new chapter to document the process again! It’s a whole new animal (building) and it’s been a nightmare (I’m soooo indecisive, you guys 😵💫) and dream come true (I’m getting to literally DESIGN a HOUSE!! 🥳)
Stay tuned for inspiration pics, design boards, and lots of progress pics!
