SO SO much progress has been made the past week. The biggest change – The fireplace! Holy smokes has it turned out just beautifully. It truly is the focal point the second you walk in the door. Tomorrow, they plan to hang the mantel. The just held the mantel up to the fireplace today and I swear my heart stopping beating.
Also, tomorrow they are staining the hardwood floors. I stopped by the house this evening to see the floors sanded down to the bare minimum. I thought it already looked better than it did before. 🙂 The floor guy gave us four options to choose from. I am terrible at making decisions so we left it up to our Instagram folks to decide (@mindfullygray). Lots of voters liked the darker stains. It definitely would make the house feel more rich and crisp. The white trim with the light gray walls, I agreed, dark stain it is! As for which stain we selected, you will have to wait and see in the next post 🙂
Until then, enjoy these progress pics.

My fiancé and I are redoing our fireplace with thin brick. My question is on the sides did you use corner pieces, cut small pieces, or just mortar the sides? Please settle this debate for us 😂

Haha! We used small pieces on the side to look like corner pieces. If you have corner pieces I’d definitely use those instead!
