As you know, we tackled a huge outdoor living project this year. Previously we had an old (rotting) wooden deck, that was on its last leg. With all the critters living underneath it, we decided to move this project up on the list this year. Boy, did it turn out great!
Brett and I had a lot of fun working together to design this space. We knew we wanted a fireplace, and wanted to use the same reclaimed brick pavers we used on our front porch. Fortunately, we were able to get thousands more pavers. We decided on a herringbone pattern, paved over a concrete slab. For the fireplace, we loved the idea of bench seating to make the space feel smaller and more inviting. As for the fireplace itself, because we were using so many reclaimed pavers and our house is gray we decided a nice white fireplace would be the perfect contrast.

This next spring we will be on the hunt for outdoor furniture. Until then, we have “soccer Mom” fold out chairs we’ve used when friends come over to roast s’mores. Hey, whatever works – Right?
Thanks for stopping by!
