Welp, you guys, I did it again. I decorated our front porch in the exact same way I did last year! I see folks on Instagram sharing pictures of their porches and how they’ve evolved over the last few fall seasons but honestly, I looked at my porch pictures from last year and said to myself “if it a’int broke, don’t fix it!” and I decorated it the exact same! I loved it last year, and I love it again this year!
Can you spot Bennett’s pumpkin project on the porch!?
It’s simple, festive, and only cost thirty or so bucks. Last year, we craved a pumpkin and put Bennett inside of it (yes, it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen). This year, I doubt she would fit in a pumpkin so I decided to do a pumpkin paint project with her instead! I came across THIS idea on Pinterest and knew I had to do it! I simply painted her thumb orange using a paint brush and stamped it all over a white pumpkin. I then used green paint and a black sharpie to add a stem and a face to each pumpkin. It turned out SO CUTE!
As you can see, her thumb prints were far from perfect – I did not touch-up her finger prints afterwards (I felt that would take away from it being her project). I simply added stems with green paint and faces with a sharpie and it turned out great!
This is a great project to tackle with kids of any age. I actually did this project with my friend’s 9 month old baby while watching her one afternoon and it went smoothly. She was not as squirmy and chatty as Bennett so I was able to stamp her thumb quickly. With older kids, they might be more involved and would enjoy seeing their masterpiece in the end!
If you plan on tackling this project tag me on Instagram (@mindfullygray)! I’d love to see!
Thanks for stopping by, friends!
