It is no secret, the kitchen is the heart of the home. So for that reason I’m kicking off documenting the building / design process with the kitchen!
Kitchen Inspiration!
When making selections for the kitchen I wanted it to feel classic and warm and not super “trendy”. We are going with Sherwin Williams, Greek Villa on the walls and I knew I wanted the cabinet color to contrast slightly from the wall color. For that reason, the perimeter cabinet color will be Sherwin Williams, Accessible Beige! It’s light and bright but also warm. It’s perfect paired with the gold hardware and Calacatta Izaro quartz.
Speaking of quartz – Y’all, I thought selecting a countertop was going to be the end of me. I initially picked a super budget-friendly quartz option. It was more speckled and less “veiny” (if that makes sense). I had every intent of saving money on this category but I could not stop thinking about the quartz I saw in the lobby at the dang countertop showroom. It was a dream! Soft veins and the perfect shade of warm white. In the 12th hour of the selection process I called an audible and changed to the quartz I couldn’t stop thinking about.
For the island cabinet color I am leaning towards Sherwin Williams, Ripe Olive. Green is my favorite color and I love it as a neutral. Ripe Olive is a deep, moody green that will work well with the rest of the kitchen.
Over the island I wanted pendants that were going to break the bank until I came across these more budget-friend pendants. They are white on the inside which was important to me to increase the output. I love the black and gold combo to tie in the rest of the lighting in the space and hardware.
Last but not least, we decided to stain the pantry door. You can see on the cabinet renderings the pantry door is in a central location (it’ll be in the blank space to the right of the fridge). We have a built-in bookshelf across the room that will also be stained and I thought it would be nice to tie into that and add some warmth in the kitchen.
The hardware will be gold and the faucet black. Brett could not get on board with a gold faucet in the kitchen so we compromised and went with black. I keep telling him todays gold is different than your grandma’s brass back in the day. 🤣🤦🏼♀️ #marriage
Which design board do y’all want to see next!
