A special thanks to Orkin Pest Control for sponsoring this post.
You know those people who are mosquito magnets?! Like they must have sugar in their blood because they are guaranteed to get attacked by mosquitoes within seconds of stepping outside? Yep, that’s me! Mosquitoes LOVE ME!
During the summer months, I am hesitant to spend too much time outside because I don’t want Bennett or I to get eaten alive. Mosquitoes thrive in conditions with warmth and moisture (a.k.a. KANSAS), which is why summer time is their super bowl. Mosquitoes also can transmit dangerous diseases like Zika virus, chikungunya virus, West Nile virus and more. No, thanks! You see, Brett has his own landscape company – He performs treatments on our lawn to keep it looking spiffy but he does not do pest control treatments. Insert Orkin Pest Control. *Praise Hands*
A month or so ago Orkin Pest Control approached me asking if I’d want to partner with them for a mosquito treatment campaign – Um, yes please! We created a beautiful outdoor living space I’d love to enjoy this summer without worrying about pesky mosquitoes.
When the folks at Orkin Pest Control came out to treat our lawn they were very professional. The technician first evaluated our lawn and designed a custom treatment plan that fit our lawn’s needs (he also answered all 230494 questions I asked). He mentioned that mosquitoes like to live on the underside of ivy leaves – We have a ton of ivy around our home so he focused on those areas. Orkin’s treatments are approved and regulated by the EPA and their technicians are specially trained to use them. The entire process took roughly 15 min – Afterwards the technician gave me a few pointers to keep mosquitoes at bay (eliminate standing water from areas around the home), and told us to stay off the lawn until it was dry (an hour or so). Within a couple days, we noticed a significant reduction in the number of mosquitoes!

What paint color is your on your house? We are getting ready to repaint and want a lighter color, yet not white as is a trend, but a color that does not lean towards yellow hue when trimmed in white.
