For a several weeks I had felt so restless about Parker’s room. I kept saying over and over how it lacked a “cozy” feel and warmth but I could pinpoint how to fix it! #firstworldproblem I chatted with my friend who has an eye for design and she suggested I go dark in Parker’s room. Immediately I could picture the whole room in a dark moody color with some added wood tones! It was my “A-HA” moment!
I went to Sherwin Williams and bought a gallon of “Cape Verde”, a moody emerald color. I painted what was a mint color on the bottom half of the wall the new emerald green color. It was PERFECT!!! I snagged these curtains from Anthropologie to tie it all together! The curtains are SO SO expensive. I have only bought two so far (I still need two more). I am the kind of person that would much rather save my pennies for something I truly love than quickly buy an affordable option I don’t love.
The curtains are truly a work of art and also go well with the mirror in here (which I debated painting at one point, as well). I originally planned on putting a basket light in here but the one I ordered hung too low. I still loved the idea of a basket light for warmth so I made one! I bought a $14 lamp shade from IKEA and wrapped it in jute. Brett was able to attach the lamp shade to the existing hardware and it looks amazing! The room is so cozy and looks similar to Bennett’s. I would imagine these girls will share a room one day so I like pieces and colors in their rooms to coordinate.
The light turned out perfectly! We were able to take off the old white shade and attach the new shade. Here’s some before and after pics of the room!
