I have been wanting to put a couple pieces of art above our new nightstands but did not want to break the bank, and I wanted to create something myself! I came across this beautiful piece on Pinterest which gave me the idea of putting potato art above our nightstands.
This is the easiest project on the planet! Most people probably have all the needed supplies lying around your home already.
Supplies needed:
- Potato
- Knife (to cut the potato)
- Paint Brush
- Drop cloth or newspaper
- Acrylic paint (colors of your choosing)
- Canvas paper
Directions
- Lay down a drop cloth or newspaper to protect your surface.
- Cut potato in the shape of your choosing (I went with a half circle)
- Using your paint brush, apply paint to the potato (not too thick – stamp on a test surface to determine how much paint to apply)
- Stamp the potato onto your paper (I suggest pressing firmly and lifting up quickly)
- Repeat!
Told y’all – It’s WAYYY easy and it looks so good with a large matte around it framed. In my opinion, it looks like legit art or something you’d find at Target.
This project takes no time (I did it during Bennett’s afternoon nap) and could easily be done with kids!
If you try this project I want to hear about it! Tag me (@mindfullygray) and/or use hashtag #projectmindfullygray!
Thanks for stopping by, friends!
