Earlier this week I bought the CUTEST frame from Crate & Barrel. It is a bone color with black lines / dots. I love the width of the frame and the modern / scadi vides it gives off. I styled the frame on our living room shelf and after looking at it a couple days I thought to, “It would be SO easy to make that frame myself!” So I did!

You see, the frame cost $39.95 from Crate & Barrel – I bought THIS frame from Target for a whopping $4.50. I made a Hobby Lobby run and bought black acrylic paint, cream paint, a small paint brush, and some spray clear gloss. This whole project cost less than $10 (don’t forget to use your 40% off Hobby Lobby coupon to save a little bit).
First I lightly sanded the white frame to roughen it up a bit, then I painted the frame a creamy white color. Next, I painted tiny lines / dots in various sizes. After the dots were dry I sprayed the entire frame with a clear gloss.

Looking at the frames side by side, even I have a hard time telling them apart! This frame would make a great gift! It would also look great on a shelf, an accent table, or paired with art. I’m a big fan of touches of black in every room.
