If you follow me on Instagram you know we are “refreshing” our dining room! This all started when Brett from Porter Furniture KC reached out asking if we’d be interested in a new dining table. My initial response (surprisingly) was not “YES, OF COURSE!” I was actually hesitant. You see, our dining table we have now was one of the first pieces of furniture we purchased for our first home. It’s the first dining table we’ve ever sat at as a family. I am the sentimental type so I have a hard time parting with things (not a complete hoarder, but kind of).
At the end of the day I realized we probably wouldn’t have this same table FOR-EV-ER. My blog / Instagram is ever-changing and all about inspiring others with new designs and products. That being said, I have been wanting a lighter table so we ended up telling him “YES!” We stumbled upon Porter Furniture when we first moved to Kansas City. We LOVED that he tears down old barns to make all his pieces. The table we have now has so much character and ultimately it tells a story! You just can’t get that in pieces that are mass produced, you know?
With the lighter table he is building for us, I have decided to ditch the rug. We have loved our machine washable rug from Ruggable, but I am craving simplicity and practicality. Bennett is super into throwing her food on the floor *eye roll* so wiping it up right off the hardwoods is sounding pretty good about now. I think the lighter table will be a nice contrast again our dark floor. If worse comes to worse, I’ll put the rug back into the picture – No biggie.
Welp, here’s the design! I ordered this chandelier for a steal! When we bought our last table I tried to find chairs that matched exactly when in reality they are just enough “off” to clash – So this time, I’m going with straight up black chairs. Simplicity and intentionality is the name of the game around here. If you read my post about Scandinavian style you know intentionality and purpose is what it’s all about!
I am excited to see this design come to life! Patience, Jamie, patience.
Thanks for stopping by, friends!
Jamie
