This is our first real Christmas in our first house! I say “real” because last year we were moving-in the first week of December and Christmas decor was the last thing on our mind. Needless to say, when this December rolled around I was excited (and ready) to kick the pumpkins to the curb and release my inner Chevy Chase.
I sought out inspiration on social media. I came across a ton of beautiful homes with Christmas decor oozing out of every corner of the home – I’m talking Christmas bedrooms, Christmas bathrooms, HUGE beautiful flocked trees, perfectly styled Christmas mantles – You get the gist! I knew that wasn’t a reality for us (this year, at least), with it being our first home / year to decorate. It takes YEARS to accumulate Christmas decor – So, this year I’ve stuck with my minimualistic style and bought a few things I can use to build on later down the road. Here’s a look around!
We tackled the basics this year – I bought lots of faux garland and wreaths, several bottlebrush trees (aren’t bottlebrush trees the cutest! I could eat those things up!), and of course a couple antique sleds. I felt like these are pieces that don’t go out of style and I can add to and/or change up each year. As for the outside, we bought a ton of lights for our Blue Atlas Cedars and we had lights put up along our roofline. I will share an outdoor pic soon!
That’ll all folks – It’s minimual but it’s just enough for us! I love adding Christmas cheer to our home. We started a fire for the first time since moving in and have been soaking in everything this season has to offer! Hope y’all enjoyed my little living room tour. I’ll be sharing our dining room in the days to come!
Thanks for stopping by!
