We purchased the cabin as a new build but in true Jamie & Brett fashion we had to put our touch on it! When I first saw the cabin interior around Christmas time I knew right away I wanted to paint the trim and walls. This idea of painting the cabinets green kept swirling around in my head but I thought if I told Brett my idea he’d think I was nuts – After all, we were buying a brand new house, we didn’t NEED to change anything.

I told him my idea and at first he absolutely thought I was crazy but after showing him my inspo pics, he was sold. This house is a second home for us but also an investment property. There are other short term rental properties in the area and we wanted ours to stand out from the rest. In my opinion, a green kitchen would do just that!
The day after we closed our painter came over and got to work! We painted all the walls and trim Sherwin Williams, Alabaster. We also painted the kitchen cabinets Benjamin Moore, Forrest Floor. I had to pick paint colors from 9 hours away (not recommended). If I had it to do over again, I would likely go a shade or two darker in the kitchen. The natural light in the house is AMAZING, which at times makes the upper cabinets look a little lighter than I wanted but still – The outcome is so good!! The contrast of black fixtures, gold knobs, wood ceiling, white walls, with GREEN cabinets makes my heart race. I love it.
We switched out every light fixture, took out the white blinds and put in cordless wood woven shades from Select BlindsSelect Blinds, layered with black out curtains. So much warmth and texture in this home!
I put a large area rug in this space (to make the room feel bigger and cozy). This rug looks vintage but is super affordable and durable! This sectional is perfect for the space – I love the color and the fact that it has storage. I didn’t want to block the walkway to the hallway so this coffee table was our best option. It’s only 2ft in diameter and looks great! The media console we went with was a BEAR to put together! I do not recommend it but the end product looks good.
This cabin is two bedroom, one bath. We made lots of changes to these spaces too!! I will share them next!

Your eye for design is impressive- the color scheme works beautifully. This will be tops on our list of places to visit if we make it to CO. Wondering how the couch is holding up?
