If you follow me on Instagram you know that we are in the process of turning our basement into a playroom-office! We have 300 square feet of finished space in the basement that for the last four years has been collecting our *crap* and has served as Brett’s “office.”
I have found myself complaining lately about our house feeling too small. #firstworldpain I decided to do something about it rather than complain with no action! I started by purchasing a desk and cube storage unit from IKEA. It took hours and hours to put together but I got the furniture constructed – The space already looks so much better! The ceiling in our basement is exposed (so the pipes, and floor joists are exposed) and was painted black before we bought the house. I don’t love the black ceiling – It makes the space feel smaller and darker. Painting the ceiling is not in the cards right now so I am painting the walls white to lighten it up. I thought I could paint this space myself but boy was I wrong. I am in way over my head – I called a few painters to come out and give me a quote which is basically where I’m at with the project as of now.
We already owned adorable playroom items such as this teepee, this doll house, and this llama. Putting these items downstairs made it instantly feel like a playroom and it’s the only space Bennett wants to be.
Check out my playroom board on Pinterest for lots of my inspiration! I also provided links below to all the items I’ve purchased or plan to!
Thanks for stopping by, friends!
