Who doesn’t love a good before & after? Recently, on Instagram I’ve shared about all the work we are doing to the outside of our home. It wasn’t until I looked at a “before” picture that I realized what a difference we’ve made! It all started when we decided to put in a new driveway, walkway, and garage floor. We couldn’t put in a new walkway, without brick pavers (of course!) and we couldn’t put in brick pavers without new landscape, and we couldn’t put in new landscape without new shutters! Sound familiar? 🙂 The list goes on and on. That’s how MANY projects around here go. We tackle several things at once, then we take a break for a while (a.k.a. save our pennies) and then tackle another big project.
BEFORE:AFTER:This project is not quite finished but we’ve reached a stopping point until next year. Come spring time, we plan to add some ground cover and other plants to add some dimension and variety to our landscape beds.
Brett and I were talking just last night about what has made the biggest impact – He voted landscape lighting, I think these Hortsmann Blue Atlas Cedars. These trees remind me of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. They offer a beautiful blue / green and also soften the corners of the exterior.
Like I mentioned, we put in a new driveway and garage floor. Brett has his own landscape company so he knows a thing or two about how to make a lawn look amazing! He put in an irrigation system, landscape lighting, over-seeded, put in boulders, and put in all new foundation plantings. We also worked together to build new shutters (DIY Exterior Shutters How-To Guide).
Our style is very much organic and natural – Before our house seemed tailored and rigged – Manmade brick landscape siding, trailed hedges, old school shutters, etc. Now, when we pull up to our house I feel as though the outside matches the inside. It feels warm and inviting.
A look at the house at night. Landscape lighting = Game changer.
Custom exterior paint color.
Thank you for stopping by!

Thanks for sharing the name of those trees, I’m considering getting one to use in our landscaping. What kind of bush is in your front window? In the “before” pic it looks to have white blooms. I enjoy your blog!

I went to Sherwin Williams today to get a sample of your custom house color and they could not do it with the information you provided. Can you give me an idea what color is closest to your custom color? I really love it and want to use it on my house. Thank you so much for your help!

Would you mind sharing the exterior color info? It does not show the custom exterior paint color info on your blog. Thanks for your time. Love your home.

What is the exterior color/colors used?

Absolutely beautiful! The only little thing I would do is paint the white downspout gray. So it wouldn’t stand out at all against the house. You did an amazing job, your house is gorgeous!!!!!

Ok soooo there is a photo of the paint receipt but no store or brand info. How can anyone recreate the color without this information?
Jamie says
Hi Rose! This is an image of the mix – If you take this to a paint store they can mix the paint for you. We had the paint mixed at Sherwin Williams.

Hello. You all did a great job on your remodel. I’m considering the same exterior paint for my home. I was wondering if you knew what color your gutters are. I believe mine are antique ivory. I couldn’t tell if yours are white or more of a cream color. Thanks!

Hi, I’m wondering if he shade of grey used on your brick is different from he one used on your siding? Just because the shades look a little different
